Welcome to my blog! My name is Rob, aka the Gourmet Flyer. I have a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of California and have been working for the university in the field of mathematics education and pedagogical technologies since the day I graduated. I am somewhat of a digital nomad in the sense that I travel and work remotely a lot. Being an academic employee, I also enjoy a lot of time off which facilitates my frequent travels.
In June 2023, I finally quit my job to travel and work on my blog full time.
My wife and I have traveled to 38 countries to date and we each have logged close to a million miles in the air. We both have a passion for food and are intrigued by how food is so closely connected to the cultures and geographies of different societies around the world.
And that is why I am the Gourmet Flyer. I am different from most digital nomads and travel bloggers in the sense that I integrate food extensively into my travels, providing a focus on local and cultural dining, and highlighting the significance of food in the culture of every destination.
